Indian Navy Unveils Race Day T-Shirt for Maiden Half Marathon in Chennai

Chennai: The Indian Navy today unveiled the official Race Day T-Shirt for the inaugural edition of the Indian Navy Half Marathon, Chennai, scheduled for 14 December 2025. Presented by Bank of Baroda and powered by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., the event marks the Navy’s first half marathon in the city.

The unveiling ceremony was held in Chennai and attended by Commodore Suvarat Magon, Naval Officer In-Charge (Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Naval Area), T. N. Suresh, General Manager & Zonal Head, Bank of Baroda – Chennai Zone, Dr. Iyappan Ponnuswamy, Medical Director & Chief Radiologist, Kauvery Hospital, and Nagraj Adiga, Race Management Partner.

The Chennai edition of the Navy Half Marathon champions three national causes — a Drug-Free India, Women Adishakti Power, and a stand against online betting and gambling. The event also celebrates unity and discipline, bringing civilians and Defence personnel together in a shared spirit of fitness and national pride.

“This is not just a run, but a movement that unites people for fitness, pride, and purpose,” said Commodore Suvarat Magon. “Running alongside the Indian Navy offers citizens a unique opportunity to feel the spirit of service and discipline.”

The marathon is part of a nationwide series of Navy Half Marathons aimed at promoting health, fitness, and community engagement under the Fit India movement.

T. N. Suresh noted Bank of Baroda’s commitment to supporting purposeful public initiatives, while Dr. Iyappan Ponnuswamy affirmed Kauvery Hospital’s role in ensuring medical safety for all participants. Nagraj Adiga added that the unveiling marks the beginning of race week excitement.
