SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre Inaugurates MD/MS 2025–26 Batch with Focus on Ethics, Empathy, and Excellence

Chennai: SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRMIST, formally inaugurated its MD/MS postgraduate batch for the academic year 2025–26 with a strong emphasis on ethics, empathy, and excellence in medical practice.

Addressing the new entrants during the Post Graduate Induction Programme, Dr. Nitin Nagrkar, Pro Vice Chancellor, underscored the values that define the medical profession. “Medicine is not defined by degrees or designations, but by the responsibility, integrity, and compassion with which you serve every patient and the communities that place their trust in you,” he said.

The programme was held under the leadership of Dr. T. R. Parivendhar, Founder Chancellor, and Dr. P. Sathyanarayan, Pro-Chancellor (Academics), reflecting SRM’s commitment to academic excellence, patient care, and community service.

Key Highlights from the Induction Programme

  • Dr. Nagrkar’s message: Postgraduate education must go beyond academics, nurturing clinicians who combine competence with empathy and integrity.
  • Dr. T. Mythili, Additional Registrar: Encouraged students to embrace mentorship, clinical exposure, and discipline, stressing that SRM is where learning transforms into clinical judgment.
  • Dr. J. S. Kumar, Associate Dean (PG Academics): Outlined three promises to postgraduate doctors—commitment to patient care, support for learning and research, and assurance of guidance throughout their journey.
  • Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent: Highlighted the hospital’s 1,600-bed facility, offering extensive clinical exposure and training in both patient care and administration.

The induction programme marked the beginning of the academic journey for the MD/MS batch of 2025–26, setting a tone of service, responsibility, and professional growth.
