Sreeleathers Honours Winners of 7th Edition Online Selfie Kolam Contest in Chennai
Chennai: Sreeleathers, a well-known brand in leather footwear and accessories, organised a special ceremony at its Purasaiwakkam store in Chennai to honour the winners of the 7th edition of its “Online Selfie Kolam Contest.” The event celebrated Tamil culture and the artistic tradition of kolam during the Margazhi season.
The function was attended by film actress Upasana RC and Sathya Ramkumar, a three-time winner of the Sreeleathers Kolam Contest, who graced the event as chief guests. The ceremony was presided over by Sushanto Dey and Pujarini Dey, partners of Sreeleathers, who presented prizes and gifts to the winners and participants.
The contest, aimed at promoting pride in Tamil cultural traditions, was conducted during the auspicious Margazhi month from December 15, 2025, to January 20, 2026. Participants from across Tamil Nadu were invited to submit their creative selfie kolam photographs through a dedicated WhatsApp number.
According to the organisers, the competition received an overwhelming response with more than 2,500 entries. The initiative, which began in 2020, has grown in popularity each year and continues to attract enthusiastic participation from people across the state.
From the thousands of entries received, the top 50 participants were selected and recognised. The winners were honoured during the prize distribution ceremony and presented with special kitchen utility gifts by Poornima Ganesan.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the initiative for encouraging people to preserve Tamil traditions. She said it was inspiring to see thousands of participants showcasing their creativity through kolam during the Margazhi season.
Sushanto Dey, Partner, Sreeleathers, said the contest reflects the brand’s commitment to celebrating Tamil culture and engaging with the community. He added that the enthusiastic participation every year proves that traditional art forms continue to thrive even in the digital age.
Pujarini Dey, Partner, Sreeleathers, noted that the contest recognises the artistic brilliance of women who wake up early during the Margazhi month to create beautiful kolams, keeping the tradition alive for future generations.
The event concluded with the felicitation of participants, highlighting the importance of preserving Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage through creative community initiatives.
