Air India Unveils First Retrofitted Aircraft with Modern Amenities and New Livery
Chennai: Air India has unveiled its first retrofitted narrowbody aircraft, VT-EXN (A320neo), marking a significant milestone in the airline’s transformation journey.
Retrofit Highlights:
- New seats, carpets, curtains, and cabin ambience
- Three-class cabin configuration with 8 Business, 24 Premium Economy, and 132 Economy seats
- Modern features such as PED holders and USB ports
- Fresh coat of paint with new Air India livery
The retrofit is part of a USD400 million program to upgrade Air India’s entire fleet of legacy narrowbody and widebody aircraft. The airline plans to retrofit 27 narrowbody aircraft, including VT-EXN, by the third quarter of 2025.
The retrofitted aircraft will operate on domestic and short-haul international routes, offering passengers a uniform, upgraded experience. The retrofit program also includes 40 widebody B787 and B777 aircraft, with the first B787 scheduled for retrofit next month.
