Air New Zealand and Air India Sign Codeshare Partnership and MoU

In a significant move to boost air connectivity between India and New Zealand, Air New Zealand and Air India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and entered into a codeshare partnership. The agreement was signed in Mumbai, in the presence of New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, and other dignitaries.

Key Highlights:

  • Codeshare Partnership: The partnership will offer customers more choices and convenient access between India and New Zealand, with 16 routes connecting India, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Direct Flights: The airlines will explore the possibility of introducing direct flights between India and New Zealand by the end of 2028, subject to new aircraft deliveries and regulatory approvals.
  • Increased Tourism: The partnership aims to increase tourism between the two countries, with India emerging as a growing tourism and business hub.
  • Simplified Travel: Customers will benefit from simplified travel options, with the ability to book flights on both airlines using a single ticket.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Greg Foran emphasized the strategic significance of India as a future destination, highlighting its rapidly expanding tourism market and increasing travel demand. Campbell Wilson, Managing Director and CEO of Air India, expressed delight at deepening the relationship with Air New Zealand, which will strengthen their presence and simplify customer journeys ¹.
