“Anweshippin Kandethum” The Positive Outcome of an Experimental Approach
The debutant director Darwin Kuriakkose’s movie “Anweshippin Kandethum,” starring Tovino Thomas, continues to play in theaters with audience support. In a pre-release interview about the movie, the scriptwriter Jinu V.
Abraham said it is an experimental script. The movie faithfully adheres to those words. The unpredictable storytelling makes this film a unique thriller experience in Malayalam cinema.
Despite being a period movie, the director skilfully depicts the thrilling story without any apprehension of being a newcomer. It can undoubtedly be said that the film is a subtle investigative thriller devoid of any gimmicks or bloodshed. This directorial approach makes the movie distinct compared to other thriller movies.
Tovino Thomas shines in his role as SI Anand Narayanan. Anand Narayanan is an ordinary policeman, and the movie depicts the two cases he investigated in different periods. Along with Tovino, Vinit Thattil as Senan, Pramod Veliyanadu as Suku, and Rahul Rajagopal as Kabir have transformed themselves with their costumes.
The role of Mathachan, the father of the deceased character Lovely, portrayed by Vettukili Prakashan, deserves special mention for its emotional depth which capturing the audience attention.
Besides them, the performances of Madhupal, Baburaj, Siddique, Indrans, Shammi Thilakan, Sreejith Ravi, Balaji Sharma, Prem Prakash, Nandu, Arthana Binu, Ashwathi Manoharan, Ramya Subramanian, and others were exceptional, making this film a must-watch for thriller enthusiasts.
Gautham Shankar’s cinematography, Santosh Narayanan’s music, background score, Dilip Nath’s art, and Saju Sreedhar’s editing all contribute to the overall mood of the film. Dolvin Kuriakose, Jinu V. Abraham, Vikram Mehra, and Siddharth Anand Kumar produced the movie under the banner of Theater of Dreams. This is the first movie after the grand success of Prithviraj’s ‘Kappa’ produced by Theater of Dreams.
