Cookgramam Reopens in Anna Nagar, Blending Tamil Village Aesthetics with Organic Fine Dining

Chennai: Cookgramam – Organic Vegetarian Fine Dining has reopened in Anna Nagar following an evocative renovation that fuses the charm of a Tamil village with the sophistication of contemporary dining. The restaurant was formally inaugurated at 12:30 PM by Dr. G. Sivaraman, Chief Siddha Physician at Arogya Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., noted wellness speaker and advocate for traditional food systems.

Founded by Devi Umapathi, Cookgramam is the culinary extension of G Organics LLP, Chennai’s pioneering organic supermarket chain established in 2014. The restaurant reflects her vision of bringing farm-to-table purity into a space that celebrates Tamil heritage, craftsmanship, and community.

The name “Cookgramam,” meaning “a small village” in Tamil, is embodied in the restaurant’s design — featuring tinnai-style seating, kaithari kathil woven chairs, oxide flooring, bamboo ceilings, and Chettinad-inspired Athangudi tiles sourced directly from artisans. A restored 100-year-old kathavu, Chettinad-style windows, and a central muttram courtyard with a gentle waterfall enhance the ambience. A Keezhadi-inspired mask handcrafted by a GI-tagged Puducherry artisan stands as a tribute to Tamil civilization’s enduring artistry.

The menu showcases organic vegetarian cuisine from regions including Kongu, Chettinad, and Thanjavur, prepared using indigenous rice varieties such as Thooyamalli, Kichili Samba, Mappillai Samba, Seeraga Samba, Karunguruvai, and Karuppu Kavuni. Dishes are crafted with wood-pressed oils, natural sweeteners, and no artificial additives — offering wholesome, preservative-free meals rooted in traditional Tamil kitchens.

Open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM, Cookgramam invites guests to savour lunch, tiffin, and dinner in a setting designed to be unhurried and heartfelt — where every meal evokes nostalgia while embracing modern wellness.
