“Not an intelligence failure, but we could have tracked the situation better to prevent the riots” said Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took center stage at ABP Majha’s flagship event, ‘Majha Maharashtra Majha Vision’, to outline his vision, defend his administration’s decisions, and address pressing controversies.

Fadnavis condemned the recent Nagpur riots, labeling them “unfortunate and unacceptable.” He acknowledged that while the situation wasn’t an intelligence failure, better tracking could have prevented the riots. He also highlighted the growing misuse of social media in spreading misinformation and inciting unrest.

On the Disha Salian and Aaditya Thackeray controversy, Fadnavis stated that the issue has been ongoing since 2002 and that the legal process will take its course. He attributed delays in appointing Officers on Special Duty (OSD) to the new appointment process, emphasizing accountability and governance as top priorities.

Fadnavis outlined his vision for Maharashtra, focusing on infrastructure, climate resilience, and technological advancements. He announced plans to generate 35,000 MW of electricity and make electricity bills zero for those consuming up to 300 units through solar energy initiatives. He also revealed ambitious plans to build 20 lakh houses within 1.5 years to address the housing crisis.

Additionally, Fadnavis emphasized Maharashtra’s potential in the AVGC sector, aiming to create over 20 lakh jobs. He positioned Maharashtra as a key player in the digital economy, stating, “Data is the new oil, and Maharashtra will lead in the global digital revolution.”

Fadnavis announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the WAVE Summit, an event designed to put Maharashtra on the global stage, comparable to Cannes and Davos. The summit will be held annually in Mumbai, attracting top industry leaders and key policymakers.
