DP World, Madhya Pradesh Government Sign Pact to Develop Inland Logistics Hub at Powarkheda
Chennai: Global logistics major DP World on Thursday signed an agreement with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to develop the Powarkheda Logistics Composite Hub, an inland logistics gateway aimed at reducing transit times, strengthening export supply chains and supporting farmers and MSMEs in Central India.
The agreement was exchanged at the World Economic Forum in Davos in the presence of Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
The hub is expected to position Madhya Pradesh as a key inland trade and logistics node by leveraging its central location, growing export base and expanding agri-processing and manufacturing sectors.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the project aligns with the state’s vision to accelerate exports and build resilient logistics infrastructure benefiting both industry and agriculture.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said the Powarkheda facility will integrate rail connectivity, warehousing, cold chain and end-to-end cargo management, helping exporters reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain reliability.
Spread over 88.3 acres, the rail-centric hub will connect Central India directly to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) at Nhava Sheva. It will provide containerised EXIM rail services, domestic rail connectivity, warehousing and temperature-controlled storage, on-site container services, and 25 acres of leased land for value addition and manufacturing.
DP World said the project could reduce transit time to JNPA by 30–40%, improve rail-based freight movement, and help lower post-harvest losses through improved cold-chain infrastructure.
