Farmer Sundar Raj’s Journey of Devotion and Resilience
Chennai: In the village of Kanjampatti, Pollachi, Sundar Raj’s journey as a coconut farmer is a testament to his perseverance and passion. Fifteen years ago, Sundar Raj turned to coconut farming for stability, and today, his 15-acre farm stands as a shining example of his dedication.
Sundar Raj’s days are filled with purpose, surrounded by swaying palms that bring him peace. “Every tree on my farm is like my own child,” he says with pride. “Not a single day feels like work when you create and sustain life,” he reflects. His cherished traditions, such as Maatu Pongal, remind him to be grateful for the earth and all that sustains him.
Sundar Raj credits Marico’s Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation (PKF) for providing expert guidance and support, enabling him to become self-reliant and digitally empowered. “With the right support, farming can be a fulfilling and sustainable livelihood,” he affirms.
For Sundar Raj, farming is not just survival—it is fulfillment. “I have built a life of independence, close to nature, with my family by my side. There’s no greater reward than that,” he says. Through devotion, patience, and innovation, Sundar Raj has created a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
