Flipkart’s #FlipTrends Reveals Valentine’s Day 2026 Shopping Surge
Chennai: Flipkart reported strong growth in Valentine’s Week shopping, with overall platform demand rising 1.42X between February 7 and 12, according to its latest #FlipTrends insights.
Search queries increased 1.26X, while orders for popular gifting items such as chocolates, stuffed toys, watches and greeting cards saw significant growth. Categories including fashion, home décor and beauty led the surge, reflecting a shift toward week-long celebrations rather than a single-day event.
Home-led celebrations gained traction, with décor items like lights, showpieces and artificial flowers recording 1.6X growth. As Valentine’s Day approached, demand rose for cakes, mugs and last-minute gifts.
Flipkart Minutes registered 7X year-on-year growth during February 7–14, highlighting the growing role of quick commerce in occasion-led shopping. February 14 saw peak order values between 9–10 am and 7–8 pm.
Metro cities such as Kolkata and Hyderabad, along with Tier 1+ markets including Ranchi, Siliguri, Ludhiana and Dehradun, emerged as key demand centres. Flipkart said the data underscores evolving consumer behaviour, with Gen Z shoppers driving self-expression-led purchases, including for Galentine’s Day celebrations.
