Gelephu Mindfulness City Signs Strategic MoU with Khaitan & Co to Strengthen India–Bhutan Investment Ties

Gelephu, Bhutan: In a landmark move to deepen India–Bhutan economic collaboration, Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) today signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khaitan & Co, one of India’s most respected law firms.

The MoU aims to build trusted legal pathways for Indian and global investors, reinforcing Bhutan’s vision to position Gelephu as South Asia’s emerging hub for innovation, sustainability, and purpose-driven growth.

GMC Governor Dasho Dr Lotay Tshering emphasized the city’s role in advancing His Majesty’s vision of a new economic gateway for Bhutan. “As the India–Bhutan partnership deepens, this MoU with Khaitan & Co marks an important step in building trusted pathways for investment, entrepreneurship, and collaboration,” he said.

Siddharth Shah, Senior Partner at Khaitan & Co, called the partnership an honour. “The GMC represents a new paradigm of development, where harmony, innovation, and sustainability converge. This collaboration will help Indian and global companies engage with Bhutan through a transparent and trusted legal environment,” he noted.

Under the agreement, Khaitan & Co will:

• Support Bhutanese businesses expanding into India across corporate, tax, and operational domains.
• Collaborate with Bhutan’s legal fraternity to share best practices and build cross-border legal capacity.
