2,500 Graduates Honoured as HITS Celebrates 16th Convocation

Chennai: Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) held its 16th Convocation at Bay Range Campus, awarding degrees to over 2,500 students across Engineering, Architecture, Law, Management, Sciences, Liberal Arts, Health, and Online programs. The event was presided over by Chancellor Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese and featured H.E. Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, Ambassador of Eritrea, as chief guest.

Honorary doctorates were conferred on H.E. Woldemariam (Doctor of Letters), Rajesh Nambiar (NASSCOM), Dr. Abraham Varughese (NSTL, DRDO), and Dr. C. Emmanuel (Gleneagles Health City) for their contributions to society, technology, and healthcare.

HITS inaugurated two major facilities: the CPS Lab in partnership with IIT Ropar for AI-enabled research in agriculture and water systems, and the TANCAM Centre of Excellence for advanced manufacturing using Dassault Systèmes’ 3D EXPERIENCE platform.

Top student awards included Best Research (Swathi N, ECE), Academic Proficiency (Vishnu Priyan J, IT), and Best Outgoing Student (Shivaranjeni, Aero). Vice-Chancellor (I/C) Dr. S. Ganesan presented the Annual Report, highlighting 2024–25 milestones.

The convocation underscored HITS’s mission to empower future-ready leaders, innovators, and researchers.
