Honeywell Chosen to Drive Digital Transformation of Rockhampton’s Water Infrastructure
Mumbai: Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has been selected by Fitzroy River Water, part of the Rockhampton Regional Council in Central Queensland, to modernize and automate key water treatment facilities as part of the Council’s long-term infrastructure upgrade program.
Fitzroy River Water provides essential water and sewerage services to households, businesses, and industries across Rockhampton. To meet rising demand, the utility is expanding its service capacity from 50,000 to 75,000 equivalent persons (EP). Honeywell’s technologies will support this expansion by improving operational reliability, enhancing cybersecurity, and extending the lifespan of critical assets at the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant and the North Rockhampton Sewage Treatment Plant.
As part of the upgrade, Honeywell will deploy its Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) SCADA R530, a software-based platform that automates remote operations. The system will allow operators at Glenmore to securely monitor and control the North Rockhampton facility from a single interface, enabling faster adjustments, reducing unplanned downtime, and improving service quality for end users.
“This project reflects how digital technologies are helping modernize essential infrastructure,” said Ravikrishnan Srinivasan, General Manager, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Process Solutions. “Through the Experion PKS SCADA platform, we enable utilities like Fitzroy River Water to improve operational efficiency, enhance system security and strengthen the reliability of water services for their communities.”
The deployment marks the latest milestone in a 30-year collaboration between Honeywell and Fitzroy River Water, focused on implementing advanced control and automation systems to ensure safe and reliable water services for the region.
Honeywell’s Experion PKS SCADA technology is widely used across industries worldwide to improve operational visibility, reduce downtime, and strengthen cybersecurity. Its scalable architecture and advanced data integration capabilities help industrial operators accelerate digitalization while meeting safety, reliability, and energy-efficiency goals.
These initiatives underscore Honeywell’s ongoing support for the modernization of Australia’s water sector and reflect the company’s broader commitment to advancing industrial digitalization across energy, resources, and manufacturing. By integrating automation, data, and cybersecurity expertise, Honeywell aims to help organizations build safer, smarter, and more energy-efficient operations for the future
