IIHMR University Trains WHO-SEARO Professionals in Data Analytics & BI
Mumbai: IIHMR University has successfully concluded a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Data Analytics and Business Intelligence for professionals from the World Health Organization – South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO).
A total of 19 WHO-SEARO professionals participated in the programme, which combined experiential learning, case discussions, and hands-on exercises to strengthen the integration of data analytics into healthcare decision-making.
Dr. P.R. Sodani, President of IIHMR University, emphasized the growing importance of data-driven insights in public health. “The healthcare sector is witnessing an unprecedented surge in data—from disease surveillance and digital health records to community-level indicators. Transforming this data into meaningful insights is essential for timely decision-making, preparedness, and effective public health response. By empowering public health leaders with these competencies, we aim to support stronger health systems, more precise interventions, and improved health outcomes across the region,” he said.
The programme covered a wide range of topics, including:
- Fundamentals of Business Intelligence (BI)
- Integrating BI into organisational strategy
- Data visualization and dashboard creation
- Power BI for decision-making
- Excel-based data analysis tools
- Data manipulation techniques (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Index Match, Macros, Automation)
- Predictive analysis using Generative AI
- Group work and practical presentations
Sessions were facilitated by IIHMR faculty members Dr. Ritu Vashistha, Dr. Purnendu Shekhar Pandey, and Dr. Swapnil Gadhave, who brought a blend of academic expertise and practical experience to the training.
By equipping WHO-SEARO professionals with advanced data analytics and BI skills, IIHMR University continues to play a pivotal role in advancing data-driven decision-making in healthcare across the South-East Asia region.
