Indo National Limited Marks Founder P. Obul Reddy’s Centenary with Commemorative Postal Stamp

Chennai: Indo National Limited (Nippo Batteries) has honoured its visionary founder, P. Obul Reddy, on his 100th birth anniversary with the release of a special commemorative postal stamp. The landmark event, part of the company’s Centenary of Light celebrations, brought together family members, employees, dignitaries, and industry leaders to pay tribute to the pioneering industrialist whose contributions shaped India’s electrical and electronics sector.

The ceremony featured a lamp-lighting ritual, a musical tribute titled 100 Seconds of Music, the screening of a documentary A Century of Light, and personal recollections shared by members of the Reddy family. His children and grandchildren offered heartfelt tributes, highlighting Obul Reddy’s entrepreneurial spirit and his philosophy of “placing people before products.”

The commemorative stamp was unveiled on November 30 by Major Manoj M., IPoS, Director of Postal Services, Chennai, who praised the Reddy family’s enduring social and industrial impact and lauded Indo National’s continuing role in national development.

Aditya Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Indo National, reflected on the milestone: “Today is not just a celebration of our founder’s 100th birth anniversary — it is a reminder of the values that built Indo National. Obul Reddy established this organization on courage, integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to people. As we enter a new phase of growth, we are proud to take his legacy forward with the same sense of purpose.”

Chief Executive Officer Pavan Kumar BVS added: “P. Obul Reddy was far ahead of his time — from introducing world-class battery technology to India to diversifying into televisions, lighting and consumer electronics. His vision continues to guide us as we modernize our portfolio, strengthen our manufacturing capabilities, and prepare for the next chapter of innovation at Nippo.”

The celebrations also included Nippo Trivia, a Long Service Award segment honouring veteran employees, a testimony video titled 100 People, cultural performances, and an employee talent showcase.

The event concluded with leaders, family members, and employees reaffirming their commitment to advancing Obul Reddy’s legacy — a visionary whose work continues to inspire generations across the Nippo and Apollo families.
