Dr Jagyaseni Chatterjee to Present ‘The Sacred Trinity’ at Trinity Arts Festival 2025 in Chennai
Chennai: The Trinity Arts Festival 2025 will feature a distinguished Bharatanatyam performance titled ‘The Sacred Trinity’ by acclaimed dancer and scholar Dr Jagyaseni Chatterjee. Scheduled for 22 November at RR Sabha Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Hall, Mylapore, the 50-minute recital offers a profound artistic tribute to the revered Carnatic Trinity—Muthuswami Dikshitar, Syama Sastry, and Saint Tyagaraja.
Dr Chatterjee, a Bengali artist known for her refined abhinaya and scholarly engagement with classical texts, has carved a unique space in the Bharatanatyam landscape over the past decade. Her work is marked by rigorous research and cultural depth, bringing intellectual precision to the expressive vocabulary of Bharatanatyam.
A Tribute to Carnatic Luminaries
‘The Sacred Trinity’ interprets the spiritual essence of the Trinity’s compositions through dance:
- Muthuswami Dikshitar: The meditative grandeur of Vande Meenakshi
- Syama Sastry: Devotional works dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi
- Saint Tyagaraja: Bhakti-rich outpourings to Lord Rama
The performance is choreographed and ideated by veteran artist Dr Lakshmi Ramaswamy, a Tamil Nadu State Awardee and Fulbright Fellow, who will also lead the recital with Nattuvangam.
