Jayant Chaudhary Outlines Vision for AI-Driven Education at Google AI for Learning Forum; CCSU Meerut Named First AI-Enabled State University Pilot

New Delhi: Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, on Wednesday outlined the Government of India’s vision to integrate artificial intelligence across education and skilling systems at Google’s AI for Learning Forum.

At the forum, the Minister announced a collaboration between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Google Cloud and Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut, under which CCSU will serve as India’s first AI-enabled state university pilot. The initiative is aligned with the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The pilot will position CCSU as a testbed for AI-led institutional transformation, introducing personalised AI tutors, AI-driven skill-gap analysis and intelligent systems to streamline academic and administrative processes. Learnings from the pilot are expected to be scaled across CCSU’s affiliated colleges and, eventually, across India’s higher education ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, Jayant Chaudhary emphasised the need to bridge the gap between education and skilling, stating that AI can act as a key enabler connecting classroom learning with industry requirements. He also stressed the importance of democratising access to AI beyond metropolitan centres and empowering teachers to adopt emerging technologies.

The event was attended by senior Google leadership, including Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager, Google India, and Chris Phillips, Vice President and Global Lead for Education, along with officials from Google Cloud and Google APAC.

As part of commitments announced at the forum, Google.org will extend a grant of ₹85 crore to Wadhwani AI to support the integration of AI tools into national digital platforms such as SWAYAM and Poshan Tracker, with an intended outreach to millions of learners.

The Minister also highlighted India’s potential to serve as a global model for inclusive AI, noting that solutions developed for India’s diverse linguistic and geographic landscape could benefit other countries in the Global South.

The forum concluded with discussions on building a national framework for AI-ready institutions, with CCSU expected to function as a Centre of Excellence to support wider adoption of AI across India’s education and skilling systems.
