Mumbai: Jindal (India) Limited, part of the B.C. Jindal Group and a leading downstream steel products manufacturer, has announced that its Ranihati facility in West Bengal has been awarded the globally recognized ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications. These accreditations highlight the company’s effective environmental management system (EMS) and occupational health and safety management systems (OH&S). The company also successfully retained its ISO 9001 certification for quality management systems (QMS).
The certifications were granted following a comprehensive audit conducted by the accredited global body Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS).
Commitment to Global Standards
Promoter Shyam Jindal, who leads the B.C. Jindal Group, emphasized that the certifications reflect the company’s dedication to maintaining international benchmarks in quality, sustainability, and workforce safety.
A company spokesperson stated: “The ISO certifications reiterate our commitment to offering world-class products and services while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and sustainability. As we diversify into newer segments and scale our capabilities, these standards will serve as the foundation for long-term growth and market leadership.”
Expansion and Strategic Growth
Jindal (India) Limited recently announced the commissioning of 0.6 million MT of downstream steel capacity expansion at its West Bengal facilities, backed by a ₹1,500-crore investment. This expansion marks a 60% increase over its existing 1 million MT per annum capacity, with a new cold rolling complex forming a key part of the project.
Additionally, the company is setting up new colour-coated manufacturing capacity to cater to India’s high-end white goods sector. Through OEM channel partners, Jindal will supply premium coated steel sheets to leading brands such as LG, Whirlpool, and Godrej.
Market Presence
Founded in 1952, Jindal (India) Limited is one of the oldest players in the downstream steel industry. While the eastern region remains its strongest revenue driver, the company has adopted a pan-India strategy, expanding into North and West India. Currently, these regions contribute around 20% of revenue, with plans to increase this to 30% in the near future, driven by infrastructure and industrial growth.
With two modern factories in Howrah, West Bengal, Jindal (India) Limited specializes in advanced colour coating, galvanizing, and galvalume technologies. Its strong brands, Jindal Sabrang and Jindal NeuColour+, dominate the colour-coated sheets market in Eastern India and maintain a significant presence nationwide.
