Jürgen Westermeier Appointed President and MD of Airbus in India and South Asia
New Delhi: Airbus has appointed Jürgen Westermeier as the President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025. Jürgen will succeed Rémi Maillard, who will take on a new role as Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus. In his new position, Jürgen will lead Airbus’ business in India and South Asia across Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters.
Leadership Role
As President and MD, Jürgen will be responsible for driving commercial aircraft sales, expanding the company’s footprint in the region, and advancing Airbus’ commitment to ‘Make in India’. He will oversee services, engineering, digital, innovation, and training initiatives. With over two decades of experience in leadership roles, Jürgen joined Airbus as Chief Procurement Officer in 2020, where he forged strong partnerships with suppliers and developed procurement processes across the company.
Background and Experience
Before joining Airbus, Jürgen held strategic positions at BMW, including roles in Information Services, Purchasing, Quality Management, and Cost Engineering. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. With his expertise and leadership and experience, Jürgen is well-positioned to spearhead Airbus’ business in India and South Asia.
