Kauvery Hospital Launches ‘Project Jeevan’ to Offer Free Spinal Surgeries for Children in Need
Chennai: Kauvery Hospital, a leading multi-specialty healthcare provider, has launched Project Jeevan, a comprehensive initiative to provide free spinal surgeries for children from economically weaker sections born with congenital spinal and brain disorders.
Key Highlights
- The project is being carried out in collaboration with Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra and Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor.
- The initiative aims to bring life-changing surgical care to children from underserved communities who suffer from conditions such as spina bifida, myelomeningocele, tethered cord syndrome, scoliosis, and spinal tumors.
- In its first phase, Project Jeevan will enable at least 35 children to receive critical surgical interventions at no cost.
Project Components
- Outreach and education programs, including training for sonologists to improve early prenatal detection of spinal birth defects
- Awareness campaigns for expectant mothers on the prevention of congenital anomalies
- Capacity-building workshops for surgeons and nurses to strengthen pediatric spine care across the region.
Funding
- The initiative is supported by a grant of ₹85 lakhs raised through The Rotary Foundation, participating Rotary Clubs, and through CSR of Inflow Technologies.
