Kamma Global Federation Eyes 30 MLAs in Tamil Nadu Assembly

Sriperumbudur: The Kamma Global Federation (KGF) on Monday organised the “Kamma Mahanadu” in Sriperumbudur, bringing together representatives from across Tamil Nadu and several other states. According to organisers, it was among the largest in-person gatherings conducted by the federation since its formation in 2024.

The federation, which aims to connect Kamma communities globally and promote cultural and organisational initiatives, claims to represent around 2.1 crore people worldwide. The event began with a cultural programme, followed by closed-door meetings reviewing the federation’s activities over the past year.

Delegates from regional chapters discussed membership growth, organisational alignment and the integration of state and overseas units into the federation’s structure. Addressing the gathering, KGF Founder and President Jetti Kusuma Kumar said the event highlighted the need for structured dialogue and coordination within the community.

He stated that one of the long-term goals discussed at the Mahanadu was to encourage greater political participation, including efforts to see more Kamma representatives elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in the coming years.

Organisers said Tamil Nadu was chosen as the venue due to its historical links with the Kamma community and its sizeable population in the state, particularly in the Chennai–Kanchipuram region. The event also referenced historical and contemporary figures associated with the community across politics, industry and education.

The programme concluded with discussions on upcoming initiatives and outreach plans. Federation office bearers indicated that similar gatherings may be organised in other states in the coming months.
