Tamil Nadu Launches First-Ever Kickboxing Super League 2025
Chennai: Sportorama, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Kickboxing Association (TNSKA), has officially launched the inaugural Kickboxing Super League (KBSL) 2025. The landmark event is being held at the Kalaignar Boxing Academy in Gopalauram on October 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2025, marking a major milestone in Tamil Nadu’s sporting history.
KBSL 2025 introduces a dynamic, team-based league format that brings kickboxing to center stage, aiming to captivate audiences and elevate the sport’s visibility across the state. Five competitive teams will participate, each representing a city or organization and featuring top-tier talent from across Tamil Nadu.
The league will showcase 60 athletes—12 per team—across a diverse set of official weight categories, ensuring balanced gender representation and thrilling matchups. Male categories include LC YC M -47KG, LC YC M -52KG, LC OC M -57KG, KL JM -63KG, KL M -66KG, and LK S M -71KG. Female categories include LC YC F -47KG, LC OC F -50KG, LC OC F -55KG, LK S F -50KG, and LK S F -60KG.
The five participating teams are:
- SSVM Kovai Smashers – Owned by SSVM Institutions
- DRA Dashers – Owned by Ranjeet Rathod, DRA Homes
- Salem Superstars – Owned by Ilios Digital
- Trichy DSU Veerans – Owned by Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University
- Adissia Chennai Titans – Owned by Manigandan, Adissia Developers
This innovative format is designed to showcase the high skill level of Tamil Nadu’s kickboxing athletes, engage spectators through structured team-based matchups, and attract greater media attention. It also lays the foundation for kickboxing’s growth as a professional and widely followed sport in India.
As part of the KBSL 2025 celebrations, the event will also honour Tamil Nadu’s international champions who recently brought glory to the nation at prestigious global tournaments. These include:
- S.L. Rakshathra, who won three Gold Medals at the Uzbekistan World Cup Kickboxing Championship 2025 in Tashkent (October 7–12)
- Ashwin Suresh, who secured two Gold Medals and one Bronze Medal at the same championship
- M. Rahul, who earned a Bronze Medal at the Uzbekistan World Cup
- Selvan. Jai Srinivasan, who won a Bronze Medal at the 1st Thailand Kickboxing World Cup 2025 held in Bangkok (April 7–12)
These athletes will be felicitated during the KBSL event, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s growing reputation as a powerhouse of Indian kickboxing talent.
