Chennai: The Loyola College Alumni Association – Chennai Chapter (LAA CC), the largest chapter of Loyola College’s global alumni network, unveiled a comprehensive year-long programme at its Annual Chapter Meet 2026, held in the presence of a large gathering of Loyolites from across generations.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu; Sujith Kumar, Founder of Maatram Foundation; and Mohan Raman, acclaimed actor, writer and film historian. The speakers reflected on the role of education, mentorship and community in shaping the next generation of leaders.
Year-Long Programme Initiatives
A highlight of the evening was the launch of LAA CC’s annual activity calendar featuring three key initiatives aimed at strengthening alumni engagement and supporting student development.
The first initiative focuses on partnering with the Loyola Inclusive Innovation Impact Centre (L3IC), the college’s startup and incubation hub. Through this collaboration, alumni from diverse industries and academic fields will contribute their expertise to support and mentor student innovators.
The second initiative aims to facilitate internships and externships for Loyola students by leveraging the alumni network across various sectors.
The third initiative involves organizing job fairs exclusively for alumni, providing opportunities for career advancement and professional networking.
Speaking on the occasion, Karthik Sabanayagam, President of LAA CC and Founder & Managing Director of Sree Sumangala Group, said the Chennai Chapter continues to bring Loyolites together through meaningful programmes and shared experiences.
“These initiatives will create more opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the college, interact with students and participate in activities that benefit the wider community. We look forward to enthusiastic participation from members as these programmes unfold during the year,” he said.
Rev. Dr. A. Louie Albert SJ, Director of the Loyola Alumni Association, noted that the Loyola alumni network has always played an important role in the life of the institution.
“Initiatives such as these bring alumni closer to the college and create opportunities for collaboration with students and the community. It is encouraging to see Loyolites come together in large numbers and continue the spirit of fellowship that Loyola stands for,” he said.
With the year-long calendar now in place, LAA CC reaffirmed its commitment to being a vibrant and purpose-driven chapter that connects generations of Loyolites not only in celebration but also in collaboration and service. Alumni and students are encouraged to actively participate in the initiatives scheduled in the coming months.
