MGM Healthcare Launches ‘Swayam’, Chennai’s First Comprehensive Geriatric Programme
Chennai: MGM Healthcare has launched Swayam, Chennai’s first comprehensive multidisciplinary geriatric programme, supported by a dedicated senior helpline (044-42004222).
Built on a structured continuity-of-care model, Swayam integrates outpatient services, senior-friendly in-patient wards and ICUs, and hospital-to-home care through direct visits, remote monitoring, and follow-up support for seniors at home or in assisted-living facilities.
The programme was inaugurated by Col. K. Prabhakar Hebbar (Retd.) along with representatives from Dignity Foundation, in the presence of Dr. Senathi Nanda Kishore and Dr. P. Sivaraj, who heads the initiative.
Swayam offers assessment-driven care that combines medical, psychological, functional, nutritional, and home-based monitoring under a coordinated framework. Services include chronic disease management, medication review, cognitive assessment, rehabilitation, infection care, and frailty and fall-risk evaluation.
Doctors at MGM Healthcare said the initiative aims to move beyond reactive treatment and instead promote preventive, structured, and longitudinal care to optimise healthy ageing.
The appointment-based programme limits consultations to five patients per day to ensure detailed evaluations. It also includes quarterly Mobile Health Services, with a doctor, nurse, and physiotherapist conducting structured home visits for ongoing monitoring and care.
