MSDE and DARE Host Skilling Workshop for Future-Ready Workforce

New Delhi: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) successfully hosted a workshop on “Skilling: Future Ready Workforce” at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. This event was a thematic prelude to the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries, focusing on building human capital for Viksit Bharat.

The workshop brought together senior policymakers, domain experts, industry leaders, and academia to chart a unified, future-ready skill development strategy for India. MSDE outlined five key focus areas for developing human capital, including skilling for all, filling the skill-employment gap, demand-based skilling, strengthening service delivery systems, and re-skilling and up-skilling.

According to Rajit Punhani, Secretary, MSDE, skill training is crucial for achieving Viksit Bharat @2047. He highlighted three key pillars: agriculture skilling, ITI upgradation, and future skills. Sonal Mishra, Additional Secretary, MSDE, emphasized the importance of aligning skilling initiatives with demographic trends, technological shifts, and emerging industry needs.

The workshop concluded with a consensus on the need for stronger convergence across stakeholders, investment in future-ready infrastructure, and leveraging international partnerships. States and Union Territories are requested to submit Feedback Notes by August 20, 2025, and a consolidated state-specific note by August 31, 2025, to inform the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries.

The outcomes and insights from the workshop will guide future skilling policy directions and feed into the deliberations at the Chief Secretaries’ Conference. The workshop showcased a diverse range of approaches to developing a future-ready workforce, with states presenting their best practices and innovative skilling models.
