New Horlicks Debuts with Superfoods Blend and Advanced NutriMax Technology
Introduces Zero Added Sugar Variant for Modern Consumers
Chennai: Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has unveiled the all-new Horlicks, reformulated with a blend of superfoods and its proprietary NutriMax technology. The upgrade promises enhanced nutrient absorption while retaining the classic taste that has been cherished for generations.
The new Horlicks combines malted barley, millets, oats, and almonds—ingredients known for their rich nutrient profiles—to support everyday nutrition. At the core of this innovation is NutriMax technology, which reduces natural anti-nutrients such as phytates that hinder absorption of minerals like iron and zinc. The process also boosts soluble and insoluble fiber, aiding gut health and maximizing nutrient uptake.
Clinically proven to reduce sick days by up to 30%, Horlicks continues to deliver benefits of taller growth, stronger bones, improved cognitive abilities, and better immunity in children.
HUL has also introduced a Zero Added Sugar variant, developed with Smart Sweetness technology. This innovation enhances natural sweetness from malted barley, ensuring the same rich taste without added sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Rajneet Kohli, Executive Director of Foods and Refreshment, HUL, said:
“Modern lifestyles have widened the gap between nutritional needs and actual consumption. The new Horlicks is more purposeful, nutrition-forward, and backed by science—marking a significant step in transforming trusted brands for a new era of nourishment.”
Dr. Sujatha Jayaraman, Head of R&D Foods and Beverages, South Asia, Unilever, added:
“We have reimagined Horlicks to deliver modern nutrition while retaining familiarity. NutriMax technology allowed us to incorporate superfoods into a formulation rooted in scientific advancement and high nutritional value.”
The launch event in Chennai featured television star Alya Manasa, presenter Archana Chandhoke, nutritionists Dr. Dharini Krishnan and Sheryl S. Salis, along with HUL executives. Over 50 influencers and content creators from Tamil Nadu and Kerala attended, engaging in interactive zones that showcased Horlicks-based recipes such as Horlicks Ice Cream, Barfi, Filter Coffee Cold Brew, Kulukki Shake, and Mysore Pak.
The new Horlicks with Superfoods is available in Classic Malt flavour across retail stores and online platforms in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Zero Added Sugar variant is offered in select channels.
