NICMAR University Pune Launches Two New Postgraduate Diplomas to Address Infrastructure Talent Gap

Mumbai: NICMAR University, Pune has announced the introduction of two specialised one-year postgraduate diploma programmes aimed at bridging critical skill shortages in India’s infrastructure sector. The new courses – Asset and Facilities Management (PGD AFM) and Ready-Mix Concrete Management (PGD RMCM) – will commence in the upcoming academic year.

India’s infrastructure and urban development push has created rising demand for professionals with expertise in execution, quality, and operational efficiency. Reports project a 15–20% growth in the asset and facility management industry by 2030, while the country’s ready-mix concrete (RMC) market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% between 2023 and 2027, driven by government initiatives in smart cities, highways, and affordable housing.

Focus on Industry Needs

  • PGD in Asset and Facilities Management (AFM): Designed to train professionals in managing the post-construction lifecycle of built assets, including operations planning, maintenance systems, compliance, energy efficiency, and user-centric facility performance.
  • PGD in Ready-Mix Concrete Management (RMCM): Structured to build expertise in concrete technology, plant operations, quality control, and logistics management, ensuring consistency and durability in large-scale construction projects.

Industry-Aligned Curriculum

Dr. Tapash Kumar Ganguli, Director-General (Interim), NICMAR University, said:

“By consulting with industry partners and practitioners, these programmes have been developed to align training with on-ground requirements. The curriculum emphasises applied learning, case-based instruction, and exposure to real-world project environments, reflecting the increasing demand for technically grounded managers rather than purely theoretical qualifications.”

Strengthening Infrastructure Outcomes

Education and infrastructure experts highlight that India’s ambitious infrastructure projects will require not only capital and engineering design but also specialised managerial talent. Programmes such as AFM and RMCM are expected to improve execution outcomes, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance resilience across the sector.

Admissions Open

Applications for both programmes are now open and will close on December 31, 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early, prepare for personal interviews, and participate in academic orientation.
