Nissan Appoints Gagan Mangal as Head of Communications for India
Chennai: Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has announced the appointment of Gagan Mangal as its new Head of Communications, effective January 12, 2026.
Based in Gurugram, Mangal will oversee communications strategy for NMIPL, reporting to Katherine Zachary, Vice President – International Communications, and working closely with Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, NMIPL.
Welcoming the appointment, Vatsa said, “We are pleased to have Gagan join Nissan Motor India at a pivotal time in our journey. His deep expertise in automotive communications and strong understanding of the Indian media landscape will be instrumental as we accelerate our brand resurgence and prepare for exciting product launches.”
Mangal brings over 18 years of experience in corporate communications and marketing, having previously led Press and Marketing Communications at Volkswagen India. He has also worked with Hyundai, contributing to integrated communications strategies across product launches, large-scale events, and brand campaigns.

In his new role, Mangal will support Nissan’s upcoming product launches and lead efforts to enhance media engagement and strengthen the company’s communications footprint in India.
Zachary added, “Gagan brings deep automotive communications expertise and a strong understanding of the Indian media landscape. We are confident his leadership will be instrumental as Nissan enters an exciting new phase in India.”
