NSDC Launches “Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan” to Skill Over 1.5 Lakh Families in Nashik
Mumbai: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has launched the “Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan”, a unique rural housing initiative designed to help over 1.5 lakh families build their own homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin. The initiative is a collaboration between NSDC, Nashik Zilla Parishad, and Quality Council of India (QCI).
- The initiative aims to provide skill training to families to construct their own homes, creating a powerful link between livelihood and self-reliance.
- NSDC will standardize training modules and support the mobilization of certified trainers across villages.
- The project is led by Mrs. Ashima Mittal, CEO of Nashik Zilla Parishad, and involves a wide network of associations, including experts in construction, solar energy, plumbing, sanitation, and building materials.
The initiative takes a community-driven approach, involving local architects, education institutions, and Block Development Officers to guide families through construction and assist with availing benefits under government schemes. The project roadmap is being finalized, with implementation set to begin within the next fortnight.
The Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan has the potential to become a national blueprint for rural housing interventions. Jitendra Thakker, Convenor of Quality City Nashik, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Ashima Mittal for her vision and leadership, adding that the initiative’s success lies in its ability to build dignity and confidence—brick by brick, skill by skill.
