NTT DATA and SankalpTaru Foundation Launch Phase II of Community Barren Land Restoration Program

Coimbatore: NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, has partnered with SankalpTaru Foundation to launch Phase II of the Community Barren Land Restoration Program in Coimbatore. This initiative is part of NTT DATA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and aims to further enhance local biodiversity and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability.

Transforming Barren Land into Thriving Ecosystems

The program has already shown significant success, with Phase I transforming a 7-acre former dump yard into a thriving green space by planting 3,500 trees. Building on this success, Phase II will see the plantation of an additional 3,500 trees in the same area, demonstrating the power of community-driven ecological restoration.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Gauri Bahulkar, Senior Director of Global Corporate Social Responsibility at NTT DATA, emphasized the company’s deep-rooted commitment to environmental sustainability. Through this partnership, NTT DATA and SankalpTaru Foundation have planted over 17,500 trees across India, fostering resilient ecosystems and uplifting communities.

Creating Awareness and Inspiring Action

The initiative has received appreciation from Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, IAS, District Collector of Coimbatore, who thanked NTT DATA and SankalpTaru Foundation for their efforts in transforming the former dump yard into a green forest. This project aims to create awareness among the public and encourage schools, colleges, and corporate employees to participate in environmental conservation.
