Palam Silks Launches Thoughtlooom: Chennai’s New Hybrid Cultural Space

Chennai: Palam Silks has unveiled Thoughtlooom, a reimagined cultural and experiential hub at its Mylapore boutique on Oliver Road. Designed to dissolve boundaries between sarees, stories, art, music, and entrepreneurial energy, the venue marks a new chapter in the brand’s journey of blending fashion with community experiences.

The inaugural evening was graced by Padma Bhushan Nalli Kuppuswami Chettiar and featured a soulful rendition of Thiruppavai by Dr. Sudha Raja’s Sargam Choir, followed by a talk show with historian and columnist V. Sriram on the origins of Chennai’s iconic Margazhi Music Season.

From Boutique to Cultural Address

Palam Silks first broke away from traditional retail formats in Mylapore by removing shelves and counters to create an open, touch-and-feel browsing experience. Over time, the boutique evolved into a concept space hosting chamber concerts and intimate talk shows under the banner Thoughtloom.

Now, with its transformation into Thoughtlooom, the space emerges as a hybrid cultural address — part boutique, part rendezvous, part platform for next-gen creators. The venue will host:

  • Invite-only events
  • Book readings and conversations
  • Chamber concerts
  • Fireside chat shows
  • Art showcases and exhibitions featuring young entrepreneurs and homepreneurs

Founder’s Vision

Speaking at the launch, Jeyasree, Founder of Palam Silks, said:
“Palam has always been about enhancing customer experience and building emotional connections. Being located in Mylapore, the cultural hub of Chennai, it felt natural for us to become part of the city’s artistic landscape. Years ago, when senior music patrons struggled to move between sabhas during Margazhi, we introduced Isai Payanam — a shuttle service connecting major sabhas before app-based cab services even existed.”

She added:
“That spirit of service inspired us to host concerts and talk shows within the store. Today, Thoughtlooom is an extension of that idea — a dedicated space for cultural events and a platform for upcoming musicians, startups, women entrepreneurs, and homepreneurs to showcase their work with confidence. This is our way of giving back to the city that has supported us for decades.”
