Patrician College Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence
Chennai: Patrician College of Arts and Science in Adyar, Chennai, celebrated its Silver Jubilee milestone on August 1, 2025. The ceremony, held at St. Patrick’s Auditorium, was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Govi Chezhian, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. The event commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu and invocation, followed by a welcome dance performance by students.
Dr. Govi Chezhian emphasized the importance of equity in higher education and praised the successful implementation of the Dravidian model by minority institutions, aligning with the Government of Tamil Nadu’s vision. He also highlighted the significance of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme in enhancing student employability and bridging skill gaps.
Several notable releases marked the occasion, including the Silver Jubilee Anthem, Flag, and Badge. Ms. J. Innocent Divya, IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, released the anthem, while Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, released the flag and badge.
Other dignitaries present included Prof. Rita John, Registrar, University of Madras, who highlighted the college’s academic achievements, and Mr. J. M. H. Hassan Maulana, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Velachery Assembly Constituency, who applauded the college’s social outreach efforts.
The celebrations continued with a Heritage Walk, which showcased the institution’s legacy and milestones. The walk concluded at The Grotto – Jubilee Square, where Ms. Nasiha Ahmed, influencer and Mrs. Universe UAE 2020, shared her reflections on the institution’s growth. The Heritage Gallery was officially inaugurated later in the day.
