Chennai: Premam Silks, the latest venture by entrepreneur Swarnamugi Raghupathy, marked its graceful entry into Chennai’s fashion landscape with a two-day launch event held on April 2 and 3 at Folly Amethyst.
The launch event celebrated the timeless appeal of Indian textiles while embracing contemporary femininity, drawing saree connoisseurs, patrons of handcrafted luxury, and prominent guests for an immersive experience.
The inauguration was led by chief guest Visalakshi Ramaswamy, Chairperson of the Crafts Council of India and Founder of M. Rm. The occasion was further marked by the presence of noted actresses Nalini and Poornima Bhagyaraj, adding prominence to the launch.
Premam Silks positions itself as a tribute to the grace and strength of women, with its debut collection blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities. The collection featured a curated selection of handpicked sarees and ensembles, including Banaras and Kanchivaram silks presented in contemporary styles.
Highlights of the showcase included innovative fusion creations such as Bandhini Paithanis, Banaras silks with organza borders, Paithani weave lehengas, and Banaras salwar suits, all of which received strong appreciation from attendees.
Speaking at the event, founder Swarnamugi Raghupathy said, “Premam Silks is not just a brand, it is an emotion. It celebrates the goddess within every woman through weaves that reflect heritage, craftsmanship, and soul. Each piece is designed to inspire confidence and a deeper connection to one’s roots.”
Set against the artistic backdrop of Folly Amethyst, the event offered guests an engaging space to explore the collection, interact with the founder, and experience the brand’s vision where tradition meets modern elegance.
The successful debut marks the beginning of Premam Silks’ journey in redefining contemporary ethnic fashion while remaining rooted in India’s rich textile heritage.
