Rela Hospital Launches India’s First Intestinal Rehabilitation Centre
Chennai: Rela Hospital has inaugurated the Centre for Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Support, a first-of-its-kind facility in India. This centre offers comprehensive medical, surgical, and nutritional therapies for rare intestinal failures and complex gastrointestinal disorders, particularly focusing on preterm babies.
The centre boasts a multidisciplinary team of experts, including surgeons, gastroenterologists, dietitians, and nursing specialists. Led by Prof. Anil Vaidya and Dr. Naresh Shanmugam, the team provides integrated care for repair, regeneration, and elongation of intestines.
This centre addresses various intestinal failure and gastrointestinal conditions, including Short Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction, and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. It offers comprehensive care through specialized services, including oral feeding with special formulations, parenteral nutrition, and bowel lengthening surgery.
