Roche Pharma India Announces Winners of the 2nd Edition of LEAP Scholarship Program

Chennai: Roche Pharma India has announced the winners of the second edition of the Leading Engagements to Advance Patient Care (LEAP) program, a scholarship initiative designed to foster innovative thinking and creativity in oncology students. The program attracted participation from over 100 leading medical colleges and hospitals nationwide, with 256 innovative solutions being submitted. Five outstanding oncology students were selected as winners, each receiving a scholarship of INR 3 lakh, a certificate, and a medal.

Winners and Their Solutions

The winners include Dr. Beulah Elizabeth Koshy from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, who developed a solution focused on palliative support and ethical decision-making; Dr. Ruhi Kumar of Stanley Medical College, Chennai, who created an affordable caregiving support model; Dr. Prabhu Pandian of Madurai Medical College, Madurai, who introduced a standardized MDT platform for personalized cancer care plans; Dr. Athira Vincent of Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, who developed an AI platform for accurate cancer diagnosis and personalized treatment; and Dr. Soumya BM of Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, who focused on access programs and tiered pricing models for affordable medications and technologies.

Evaluation and Impact

The entries were evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising renowned oncologists, with assessments centered on originality, practicality, strategic insight, and potential to improve patient outcomes. According to Rajwinder Mehdwan, CEO & Managing Director of Roche Pharma India, “LEAP program is a testament of our commitment to reimagining healthcare by investing and nurturing the next generation of India’s medical talent.” The program aims to inspire students to drive positive changes in the world of cancer care and create a more compassionate approach to patient care.
