Rotary Club of Tharamani Hosts District Governor’s Official Visit
Chennai: The Rotary Club of Tharamani hosted the official visit of the District Governor for the Rotary year 2025–2026 on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the club’s service journey.
Led by President Rtn. Santhosh Sivadasan and Secretary Rtn. Kalyana Sundaram, the club presented a comprehensive overview of its service initiatives carried out during the year. The presentation highlighted projects spanning community welfare, education, environment, and healthcare, reflecting the club’s structured approach and commitment to social impact.
Projects Worth Over ₹31 Lakh Executed
The club reported a total project outlay of ₹31,15,014 across various service domains. Key initiatives included grocery support for families of differently abled children, distribution of school uniforms, provision of lab equipment, environmental protection activities, and basic healthcare support.
Major CSR Project Enhances School Infrastructure
A significant highlight of the year was the construction of a classroom-cum-hall at Kandigai Government Higher Secondary School, executed at a cost of ₹28.25 lakh. Supported by Data Patterns India Limited under CSR and implemented with assistance from the Rotary Club of Guindy, the project addressed critical infrastructure gaps, where classes were previously conducted under trees. The initiative has provided students with a safer and improved learning environment. The bhoomi pooja for the project was held on July 16, 2025.
Governor Commends Club’s Efforts
The District Governor commended the club for its well-organized initiatives, strong administrative practices, and active member participation. The leadership of President Santhosh Sivadasan and Secretary Kalyana Sundaram was particularly appreciated for driving impactful and sustainable projects.
