Shahi launched a Digital Library and Information Centre at a Village in Bangalore

Bangalore: The Digital Library and Information Centre were launched in the Village Panchayath Office, Kachohalli, Magadi, Bangalore, to enrich knowledge, promote E-learning and research, and provide competitive exam aspirants, students, researchers, and communities with the flexibility to access information under one roof. Shahi Exports, India’s largest apparel and textile manufacturer and exporter, has worked on this initiative under its Shikshanam Program, AKSHARA.

Gopal, Panchayat Development Officer, said, ” We are very glad and proud to receive CSR support from Shahi. Such initiatives develop village panchayaths as model panchayats and inspire another panchayat to set up this kind of information center for the advancement of the communities. Present-generation students/aspirants are very fortunate for such initiatives for the growth of users.”

Mahima, Manager, HR Plant, said, “ Sarla Ahuja’s ambition towards her dream of creating a business that supports women empowerment is admirable. Modern education has impacted the government school education system in terms of basic facilities and other requirements. Shahi has implemented the Akshara project under the thematic area of Shikshanam to fulfill the requirement. The main intention is to support the competitive exam aspirants, students, and communities for their personal and professional growth.

Sarojamma, President of Village Panchayat, Kachohalli, said “Such initiatives help the student as well the parents to encourage to learn, enhance their knowledge, and emphasize their career, and requested panchayath staff propagate the facilities available in panchayat and extend maximum support to use of this provisions”.

This digital library and information center is set to benefit more than 700  – 800 students/aspirants every year. Project AKSHARA aims to fulfill basic amenities, create child-friendly learning spaces, and ensure a healthy ecosystem in government schools and education-related institutions in the public sector.
