Sona Valliappa Group and KDEM Partner to Skill 3,000 Students in Karnataka

Chennai: Sona Star Innovations Pvt Ltd, part of the Sona Valliappa Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) to implement a statewide skilling program. The initiative aims to prepare 3,000 students over the next five years for careers in global and digital industries.

Empowering Youth through SCALE

The Sona Centre for Advanced Learning and Entrepreneurship (SCALE) will impart training through its upcoming campus in Bidadi, focusing on emerging tech clusters like Tumakuru, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Shivamogga, and Dharwad. SCALE’s training philosophy is built on a 3D model – Design, Develop, and Deploy – ensuring students receive industry-aligned curriculum and comprehensive sector-specific training.

Key Features of the Program

  • Design: Industry-aligned curriculum created with ITBT approval and insights from emerging industry trends
  • Develop: Comprehensive sector-specific training in technical expertise, digital services, communication, and soft skills
  • Deploy: Dedicated placement cell ensuring immediate employability and bridging the gap between academia and industry

Goals and Expectations

According to Thyagu Valliappa, Vice Chairman of the Sona Group of Institutions, “Our partnership with KDEM represents our shared mission of preparing Karnataka’s youth for global opportunities while empowering industries to access job-ready talent from across the state.”

Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO of KDEM, added, “Our vision at KDEM is to democratize digital opportunities across Karnataka. Through this partnership with SCALE, we are building global pathways for students in emerging tech clusters.”

Reviving Sona’s Historic Role

This initiative revives Sona’s historic role in India’s global workforce, dating back to 1983 when Sona Towers in Bengaluru became the birthplace of India’s first GCC. With SCALE, Sona brings that pioneering spirit back, decentralizing opportunities to regional clusters across Karnataka.
