SRM Institute of Science and Technology Holds 21st Convocation Ceremony
Chennai: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) recently held its 21st Convocation Ceremony, conferring degrees to 9,769 graduates. The ceremony was graced by C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor of Maharashtra, as the Chief Guest. Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor of SRMIST, highlighted the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and societal impact.
Honoring Excellence in Science and Technology
During the ceremony, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO, and Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, were conferred the prestigious Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to science and technology. Dr. Narayanan emphasized the importance of honesty in achieving success, while Dr. Ravichandran advised graduates to cultivate passion, purpose, and resilience.
Inspiring Addresses
C.P. Radhakrishnan delivered an inspiring Convocation address, emphasizing the importance of sincerity, hard work, and patience in achieving success. He encouraged graduates to lead India to become the world’s foremost economic power by 2047. Dr. Narayanan highlighted India’s remarkable progress in aerospace and defense technology.
Academic Excellence
A total of 157 rank medallists were honored, including 93 first-rank holders. The ceremony celebrated academic excellence across disciplines, with women representing 56.4% of Ph.D. scholars and 44.5% of rank holders.
