Tata Elxsi and GSMA Partner to Accelerate Network Monetization and Enterprise API Adoption

Mumbai: Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GSMA under its Fusion initiative to accelerate enterprise API adoption and unlock new revenue streams for mobile operators. The collaboration includes a Global Statement of Requirements aimed at enabling standardized, enterprise-ready services across key sectors such as automotive, industrial, healthcare, and entertainment.

The partnership will initially focus on supporting enterprise demand in the automotive and drone sectors, leveraging standardized Quality on Demand (QoD) APIs and other programmable network capabilities to deliver next-generation digital services.

Network monetization is a core pillar of Tata Elxsi’s AI First Telco strategy, which helps operators move beyond connectivity to capture high-value enterprise opportunities. According to ResearchAndMarkets.com, the global network API market is projected to grow from USD 1.96 billion in 2025 to USD 6.13 billion by 2030, driven by 5G adoption and enterprise digital transformation.

“This collaborative effort is a strategic offering to help telcos transform their value proposition for the future,” said Rajagopalan Rajappa, Chief Technology Officer – Communication Technologies & Platforms, Tata Elxsi. “By enabling operators to monetize their networks through standardized APIs, we help unlock enterprise revenue with best-in-class integration, platform services, and managed offerings.”

GSMA will support mobile operators in delivering scalable, programmable network services—such as QoD, location verification, and enhanced security—tailored to regional and industry-specific enterprise needs. Tata Elxsi will leverage GSMA’s Open Gateway framework and CAMARA-standardized APIs to develop demand-driven use cases across verticals.

In the automotive sector, Tata Elxsi will deliver use cases including enhanced driver and cabin monitoring, rear-seat entertainment powered by QoD APIs, location-based services, and KYC solutions for shared mobility and fleet operations through its Connected Digital Platform & Solutions.

“We look forward to working with Tata Elxsi through the GSMA Open Gateway initiative,” said Paresh Modi, Senior Director, GSMA Fusion. “Their deep enterprise knowledge and expertise in systems integration and software innovation will be essential in scaling new digital services across sectors.”

Strategic Focus Areas Under the MoU:

  • Enterprise Demand Generation: Global Statement of Requirement to drive API adoption.
  • Technical Enablement: Integration of CAMARA-certified APIs into Tata Elxsi’s TETHER platform.
  • Go-to-Market Acceleration: Joint engagement with operators, pilot programs, and awareness campaigns.
  • Commercial Models: API consumption and monetization frameworks for OEMs and operators.
