The Yoga Institute Celebrates 11th International Day of Yoga

Mumbai: The Yoga Institute, the world’s oldest organized yoga center, marked the 11th International Day of Yoga with grand celebrations. Over 100,000 individuals across 500 locations worldwide participated in TYI-led events, making it one of the largest and most impactful IDY celebrations by a single yoga institute in India.

Global Reach and Impact

The events were organized in collaboration with various institutions, including government offices, educational campuses, defense establishments, corporate offices, malls, temples, airports, and embassies. Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, Director of The Yoga Institute, graced the Global Yoga Summit hosted by the Ministry of Ayush and CCRYN.

Key Highlights

  • A special session was held at Maharashtra Mantralaya, bringing yoga to the heart of governance.
  • “Yoga by the Bay” event at Marine Drive, Mumbai, saw participation from over 3,000 NCC cadets, Coast Guard personnel, and thousands of Mumbaikars.
  • Exclusive sessions were held at diplomatic missions, including the U.S.-India Consulate.
  • Yoga sessions were conducted for staff and travelers at Mumbai Airport terminals.
  • Targeted sessions were held for Mumbai Traffic Police and armed forces personnel.

Education and Community Engagement

  • Sessions were held across over 350 schools and 25 colleges, introducing thousands of students to the benefits of yoga.
  • A community yoga session was organized at HyperCity Mall, Thane.
  • A spiritually enriching session was held at the ISKCON Temple in Navi Mumbai.

Corporate Participation

  • Over 100 wellness sessions were conducted for leading organizations.
  • A rejuvenation retreat was curated for Sunil Chemicals at TYI’s Alibaug campus.

Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, said: “Yoga is not just for the body; it is for chitta prasādana — the purification and quietening of the mind. When our thoughts are clear, our actions become purposeful.” Her message was widely broadcast across major media platforms, reaching millions.
