BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals Launches ‘Vannam’ Clinic for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in Chennai

Chennai, March 5: BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals has launched ‘Vannam’, a dedicated clinic for women experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), at its facility in Guindy, Chennai, aiming to provide structured diagnosis and comprehensive maternal care under one roof.

The clinic was inaugurated by actress Saranya Ponvannan in the presence of doctors and hospital officials, including Dr. Mathangi Rajagopalan, Dr. Priyadharshini S. M., Dr. Lucetta Amelia Dias, and Dr. Padma Priya, along with senior administrators of the hospital.

According to doctors, recurrent pregnancy loss is defined as two or more consecutive miscarriages and may occur due to multiple factors such as genetic abnormalities, uterine structural issues, cervical weakness, blood clotting disorders, hormonal imbalances, or metabolic conditions. Medical experts note that nearly 2–3 per cent of pregnancies are affected by this condition, particularly among women in their 20s and 30s.

The newly launched Vannam Clinic aims to bridge the gap in systematic evaluation by offering gynecology-led multidisciplinary care, bringing together specialists in obstetrics, genetics, fetal medicine, neonatology and pediatric metabolic care. This integrated approach enables accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment plans for women experiencing repeated pregnancy loss.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mathangi Rajagopalan, Senior Obstetric Consultant at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, said that careful clinical evaluation and understanding the pattern of previous pregnancy losses are essential to identifying the underlying cause. She noted that many cases can be effectively managed through targeted diagnosis and personalised care without necessarily requiring fertility interventions.

Dr. Priyadharshini S. M., Senior Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynecology, said the clinic strengthens the hospital’s approach to maternal care by shifting focus from reactive treatment to proactive evaluation and early screening, helping improve pregnancy success rates through timely medical intervention.

Addressing the gathering, actress Saranya Ponvannan said repeated pregnancy loss can be emotionally distressing for families, and specialised initiatives such as the Vannam Clinic provide both medical care and reassurance for women facing such challenges.

Hospital authorities said the clinic forms part of BirthRight’s 360-degree maternal care ecosystem, offering services ranging from pre-pregnancy counselling and gynecological care to high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, delivery, neonatal support and multispecialty pediatric care.

Rainbow Children’s Medicare Limited currently operates 23 hospitals and five clinics across nine cities in India, providing specialised pediatric and women’s healthcare services through its brands Rainbow Children’s Hospital and BirthRight by Rainbow.
