Tamil Nadu Forest Department Unveils ‘Wild Tamil Nadu’ Documentary
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has announced the trailer release of “Wild Tamil Nadu,” a landmark documentary that showcases the state’s breathtaking natural diversity. Produced by Sundram Fasteners and directed by Kalyan Varma, the documentary aims to foster pride and conservation awareness among viewers.
A Journey Through Tamil Nadu’s Natural Mosaics
The documentary captures the state’s diverse landscapes, from mountains and forests to plains, coastlines, and coral reefs. The trailer features glimpses of elephants gathering at riversides, leopards traveling across ridgelines, flocks of flamingos ascending from sunlit wetlands, and fireflies transforming the night into a constellation.
A Powerful Storytelling Experience
The hour-long film features a soundtrack composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, infusing Carnatic traditions with orchestral arrangements to amplify the voices of these landscapes. Narrated by acclaimed actor Arvind Swamy, the documentary celebrates Tamil Nadu’s biodiversity and the deep cultural and ecological bonds connecting people to this land.

The documentary is set to premiere in Chennai, followed by screenings across Tamil Nadu, major Indian cities, and international festivals. Kalyan Varma, the director, described the project as “one of the most meaningful of my career,” aiming to share a deeper story of Tamil Nadu’s natural beauty and cultural significance.
