India’s First Appearance at WorldSkills Asia 2025
Grand Opening Ceremony Held in Chinese Taipei
Mumbai: India proudly marked its first-ever participation in the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC) 2025, as the national contingent joined the grand opening ceremony in Chinese Taipei today.
Represented by 23 competitors and 21 experts, the Indian team is supported by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as its implementation arm. The delegation is accompanied by Shri Gyan Bhushan, Senior Economic Advisor, MSDE.
India will showcase its growing prowess across 21 cutting-edge skill categories, including Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, CNC Milling, Digital & IT Skills, Web Development, Automotive Technology, Graphic Design Technology, Beauty Therapy, and Fashion Technology.
A Global Stage for Skills Excellence
The third edition of WSAC brings together over 500 competitors from 29 Asian and guest countries, competing across 44 skill categories (36 official and 2 exhibition skills). India joins nations such as Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Iran at one of Asia’s largest international skill championships.
The event is attended by industry leaders, global organizations, policymakers, and academic institutions, and also features skill categories for juniors, fostering collaboration and cultural exchange.
Rigorous Training & Preparation
India’s competitors were selected through the IndiaSkills Competition 2024 and have undergone five months of specialized world-class training with leading industry and academic partners including JK Cement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, LTA Academy of Beauty, Mahindra University, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, and Iraj Evolution Design Company Limited.
Ahead of departure, the team completed a four-day Team Building and Readiness Programme featuring psychometric assessments, communication training, neurotherapy, mindfulness, nutrition, and art & music therapy to strengthen resilience and performance.
Building the Skill Capital of the World
Participation in WSAC is expected to boost confidence, global exposure, and career opportunities for India’s young professionals. Their international experience and new techniques will help raise national training standards and inspire the wider skilling ecosystem.
India’s debut reflects its commitment to the global skills movement and its vision of becoming the Skill Capital of the World. The championship concludes on November 29, 2025.
