IIHMR University Trains Gujarat Health Officials to Strengthen Public Health System
Mumbai: IIHMR University has conducted a five‑day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Health Systems Strengthening for officials from the Government of Gujarat. The initiative focused on enhancing leadership, data‑to‑action practices, digital health readiness, and strategic management to improve the state’s public health performance.
The programme brought together 30 participants from diverse roles including medical officers, professors, administrators, and policy planners representing institutions such as GMERS Medical Colleges, district hospitals, SHSRC, and NHM units.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. P.R. Sodani, President, IIHMR University, said: “Strengthening health systems requires a robust foundation of leadership, data intelligence, and digital readiness. Such elements are increasingly crucial for a rapidly developing state like Gujarat. Through this programme, our aim was to equip health administrators with the skills and frameworks needed to translate data into action, enhance service delivery, and build resilient health systems.”
Over the course of five days, participants engaged in interactive sessions covering:
- Leadership and decision-making for health administrators
- Data and indicators, programme monitoring, and data-to-action practices
- Data visualization and dashboarding for decision support
- Strategic planning, management exercises, and group presentations
- Digital health innovations and applications of AI in healthcare
- Predictive analysis using Generative AI
The sessions were facilitated by IIHMR University’s faculty experts, including Dr. P.R. Sodani, Dr. Vinod Kumar SV, Dr. Arindam Das, Dr. Goutam Sadhu, Dr. Purnendu Shekhar Pandey, Dr. Praveen Srivatsa, and Dr. Venkat Changavalli.
