Actor Sathyaraj Inaugurates Advanced Cancer Centre at Iswarya Hospital
Chennai: Strengthening its commitment to advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment, Iswarya Hospital has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Iswarya Cancer Centre at its OMR Taramani facility in Chennai. The centre aims to offer comprehensive oncology care with cutting-edge technologies and multidisciplinary treatment under one roof.
The facility was inaugurated by noted actor Sathyaraj in the presence of Dr. S. Rajasundaram, CEO of Iswarya Hospital, Dr. Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director, and members of the hospital’s oncology team.
The newly launched cancer centre integrates a full spectrum of oncology services including surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, bone marrow transplant, pediatric oncology, preventive oncology, nuclear medicine and theranostics, onco-pathology, and palliative care. The centre is also equipped to handle complex oncological surgeries across various cancer types, supported by advanced operation theatres and specialized surgical teams.
The hospital has introduced advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies such as AI-powered PET-CT imaging and high-precision radiotherapy systems, which help improve the accuracy of cancer detection, staging, and treatment delivery. The centre will also offer immunotherapy, an advanced treatment approach that helps the body’s immune system identify and attack cancer cells more effectively.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. S. Rajasundaram, CEO of Iswarya Hospital, said cancer continues to be a major health challenge in India. Citing data from the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Cancer Registry Programme, he noted that new cancer cases in the country are projected to reach around 15.7 lakh by 2025, with breast, lung, and oral cancers among the most commonly diagnosed. Breast cancer alone is expected to account for more than two lakh new cases annually, making it the leading cancer among Indian women.
He emphasized that late diagnosis remains one of the biggest challenges, significantly affecting survival outcomes. The introduction of AI-powered PET-CT technology and high-precision radiotherapy at the centre is expected to help doctors detect cancer earlier, assess disease progression more accurately, and guide treatment decisions more effectively.
Dr. Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director of Iswarya Hospital, said the new facility marks a major milestone in expanding the hospital’s oncology services.
“By bringing together expert specialists, complex cancer surgery capabilities, advanced imaging technologies, immunotherapy, and integrated treatment facilities under one roof, we aim to deliver comprehensive cancer care that patients can trust. Early detection and timely treatment are critical to improving outcomes,” he said.
According to the hospital, the AI-powered PET-CT scan available at the centre enhances diagnostic precision by combining advanced imaging with artificial intelligence-driven analysis. This enables clinicians to detect cancer earlier, monitor treatment response more effectively, and design highly personalized treatment plans.
With the launch of the Iswarya Cancer Centre in OMR Taramani, Iswarya Hospital aims to strengthen access to timely diagnosis, advanced treatment, complex cancer surgeries, high-precision radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and multidisciplinary cancer care for patients across Chennai and surrounding regions.
