GTB Developers Gets WTCA Licence for ₹7,000 Crore World Trade Center Project in Chengalpattu
Chennai: GTB Developers (GT Bharathi Urban Developers Pvt Ltd) has received a licence from the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) to develop World Trade Center Chengalpattu, a proposed ₹7,000 crore IT-integrated township spread across 100–150 acres.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Chennai attended by a WTCA delegation led by Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, and senior representatives of GTB Developers.
The Chengalpattu project will be developed in phases over approximately ten years. The proposed masterplan includes commercial and IT office spaces, hospitality facilities, residential developments, an education zone and data centre infrastructure.
The company is at an advanced stage of identifying and securing land for the project and expects the plans to take shape within six months to one year.
Located along Chennai’s southern growth corridor, Chengalpattu is close to Mahindra World City, the Oragadam and Maraimalai Nagar automotive clusters and the Siruseri IT corridor.
Through the WTCA network, which comprises more than 300 World Trade Centers across nearly 100 cities and territories, including around 40 in India, GTB plans to connect businesses with international markets, trade services, investors and development partners.
500-Acre Industrial Project Proposed in Kanchipuram
Separately, GTB Developers is exploring a second World Trade Center project across approximately 500 acres in Kanchipuram district.
Unlike the Chengalpattu township, the proposed Kanchipuram development is planned as an industrial World Trade Center, with manufacturing and data centre zones, along with supporting infrastructure, education and hospitality facilities.
The company is exploring a public-private partnership (PPP) model and has approached the Tamil Nadu Government to participate in the project through possible land allocation and policy support. The proposed timeline for the project is six to twelve months, depending on the government’s response.
GTB Developers Chairman Bharat Kanti Doshi said the WTCA membership would help the company connect with businesses, development partners and investors across India and overseas.
Managing Director Arun Bharathi Arunachalam said the Chengalpattu project would be implemented over ten years and generate employment across construction, technology, hospitality and services.
Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, WTCA, welcomed GTB Developers into the association’s network and said the organisation would work with the company as the Chengalpattu project progresses.
The press conference was attended by WTCA representatives Badal Saboo, Business Development, India/Asia Pacific, and Adele Zhang, Senior Regional Services Manager, Asia Pacific. GTB Developers was represented by Chairman Bharat Kanti Doshi, Managing Director Arun Bharathi Arunachalam, Director Shakti Parthasarathy and Director Sahil Doshi.
