Adani Foundation sets up Skill Development Centre for the fishing community
Skilling 240 Women from Lighthouse, Thangalperumbulam, Kottaikuppam and Pulicat-the fishing communities every year in order to support their livelihood
Chennai: 11th July 2024: Creating an opportunity for women from the fishing communities to be skilled, employable and become entrepreneurs, Adani Kattupalli Port through its CSR program aims to provide a platform to skill 240 women in Self-employed Tailor (SET) every year and to empower them to be independent and contributing member in the family.
The Skill Centre was inaugurated by Durai Chandrasekar, MLA, Ponneri Constituency, Waghe Sanket Balwant IAS, Sub Collector, Ponneri, Tiruvallur District, Capt. Madhanmohan, COO, Adani Kattupalli and Ennore Ports, Traditional Leaders, Village Panchayat Presidents, Councilors, Ward Members, and community members.
Until now, the Foundation has provided training to 750 students through its skilling program, of which 70% of got job placement with various employers. Adani Kattupalli Port is planning to provide skilling to youth in multiple domains eg Auto Sector, Port operation-related, and Finance & Accounting in the coming years. Adani Skill Development Centre has provided skill training to 150000 plus students and has its presence in 15 states.
