Dementia India Alliance and Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals Sign MoU to Advance Integrative Dementia Care in India
Mumbai: Dementia India Alliance (DIA), a national NGO dedicated to dementia awareness and care, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, India’s leading Precision Ayurveda hospital network under the Apollo Hospitals Group. The partnership aims to promote integrative dementia care and awareness by combining DIA’s expertise in advocacy and community engagement with Apollo AyurVAID’s clinical leadership in Ayurveda-based elder care.
With India’s elderly population projected to reach 319 million by 2050, dementia poses a growing public health challenge. Currently, an estimated 88 lakh Indians aged 60 and above are affected — a number expected to nearly double by 2036. Yet, nearly 90% remain undiagnosed due to limited access to memory clinics and early intervention services.
The MoU seeks to bridge this gap by integrating evidence-based Ayurveda protocols with community-driven awareness, early detection, and holistic management strategies. The collaboration will focus on:
- Developing integrative risk assessment and therapeutic frameworks
- Promoting early diagnosis and timely medical help
- Conducting community education, workshops, and capacity-building programs
- Implementing dementia-friendly protocols across Apollo AyurVAID centres
